The assistant to the President of Azerbaijan on law enforcement bodies Fuad Aleskerov made it clear on Monday evening that the authorities are ready to release Mehman Huseynov, or rather, that he will not be faced with new charges.
Recalling that Mehman Huseynov appealed to the President of Azerbaijan to ensure justice in his case, Aleskerov said that a group of human rights activists had made a similar appeal.

“Dear President recommended that the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, considering the young age of the convicted person serving his sentence for about two years, his family situation and the old age of his father, put forward the principle of humanism in the Mehman Huseynov case in order to guarantee objective and fair investigation in strict compliance with law. At the same time, the President urged the participants in the incident to take steps towards reconciliation,” Aleskerov said.
From what has been said by Aleskerov, it can be concluded that the new criminal case against the blogger will be closed. The “beaten” guard Ali will suddenly reconcile with Mehman, taking into account his young age. Well, and the witnesses of the beating will confirm that there was nothing like that.
According to logic, such a performance should end with the dismissal of the prosecutor who initiated the case and the administration of prison number 14, due to which unprecedented criticism, curses from all over the world and intensification of protest mood in society fell upon the head of the country’s leadership.
But the most interesting of all will be not the prosecutors and warders, but those “human rights activists”, “journalists” and those in the service of the authorities who said up to the day before that Mehman had to answer for his action, that no one can put pressure on Baku and, in general, nobody can order us.
