At 14:00, the initiators of the action intended to gather at the Free Woman monument and from there to march to the monument to the poetess Natavan.

Already from noon, the site in front of the Free Woman monument was taken under the police control. The police did not allow several dozen women to approach the monument and began to pull out posters from them.

In response, the protesters began to chant: “No violence against women!”

The police colonel stated that the action was not coordinated with the authorities and demanded they should disperse.

In response, the journalist Khadija Ismayilova said that, according to article 4 of the law on Freedom of Assembly, on holidays and mourning days, events should not be coordinated with the authorities.

After much wrangling, the police pushed the women to the metro station Nizami. However, dozens of women continued to chant and resist for about half an hour.
