EFQANRepresentatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were not allowed to journalist Afgan Mukhtarly, said the human rights activist Ogtay Gullyev. According to him, in the Kurdyakhan detention center the Red Cross employees were told that Mukhtarly is not held in this institution.

In turn, the ICRC Baku office told Turan correspondent that visits to places of detention are part of the organization’s mandate, but the mission never provides information about it.

Mehman Sadigov, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service, responding to Turan’s question about the place of detention of Mukhtarly, said that information about changes in the place of detention of prisoners is provided “only with their consent of the detainees”.

Lawyer Elchin Sadigov, in turn, said that he had been confirmed at the detention center by Kurdakhani Mukhtarly. The lawyer denied the statement of the Prosecutor General’s Office that there are no signs of violence on Mukhtarly’s body.

On the confrontation at the Investigation Department of the Border Guard Service and in the court, traces of violence were recorded, the lawyer said. In addition, he formally petitioned the court to conduct a medical examination of Mukhtarly. However, the petition was rejected.
