Opposition has held protest in central part of Baku on 17th April, 2011. That day chairman of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Social Union Elchin Abdullayev observed the situation during the protest. According to his observations Police didn’t let protestors to enter “Sahil” garden where opposition planned to come together. Police used force against protesters, also women to prevent their rally. Elchin Abdullayev also visited Police Stations of Baku City where approximately 200 protesters were taken after being arrested. He talked to arrested protesters and they mentioned that police used force against them while they arrested.

 Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Social Union condemns Police force against protesters during the Opposition rallies and mass arrest. Beside this Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Social Union express its regret regarding arresting of youth students during the rallies and after being dismissed from the universities that the study and being invited to have military service.
